Hi,

My 2007 Mk2 outboard brake lights have stopped working (Centre High Mount is working). My trailer 7 pin socket got broken recently so last time i used it I had no outer plastic case to orient the pins, wires also got pulled so I believe something may have shorted out. I have rewired a new plug and all trailer lights are working (including brake lights, but still only CMSL on car)

Reading various forums i've checked out both brake light switches, both seem ok, the black one (outboard) alone switches the centre lamp and also trailer. I can't confirm the inboard (Grey/Blue) as rear stop lamps not working, so I removed switch and measured resistance, as a simple continuity on/off it seems ok, but I don't know if this is how it functions, would I need to measure actual resistance values?

I don't have the vehicle manual with fuse locations, and various stuff has come up on-line, I have looked under bonnet and also the module under passenger footwell. Position 15 gets mentioned a lot but this 10A fuse (passenger footwell) seems ok.

The under bonnet fuses have pictures of use, i can't  see rear brake lights, and i've looked for position 15.

My question is, is there a rear fuse box, or would the fuse boxes i've found contain the brake lights, if so which position?

LH & RH brake lamps aren't working so i've assumed all bulbs wouldn't have gone at once, so haven't checked bulbs, but I will do that next to be sure.

thanks

Stephen

Check the bulbs. I did the fuse thing to no avail and it turned out both bulbs had gone at the same time.
